FAQ: Shipping Your Gun to EGW
How and where do I ship my gun to?
After completing the Gun Smith order section of our Online Store (Hyper Link to Gun Smith Services Section) and selecting the work you would like completed, EGW will contact you regarding your work order to confirm the work being completed and a shipping date.
Once you have received your shipping date and a copy of the work order contract is signed and dated, feel free to send in your gun using either one of the methods below to:

What if I don’t have an F.F.L.?
Non F.F.L. Holders
You can legally send your Pistols via UPS or Fed Ex to EGW and we can return the gun to you the same way. UPS and Fed Ex rules state that the gun must be shipped Next Day Air. These are UPS and Fed Ex rules, NOT federal rules. Stripped frames or anything with a serial number used to identify a gun qualifies as a gun and must be sent accordingly. Slides, barrels and frame parts can be sent via regular shipping methods.
Please insure your guns when sending them in for work. UPS and Fed Ex will not reimburse you for lost shipments of your guns if they are shipped with any other method besides Next Day Air. If you are sending a Slide or any separate parts, please make sure you insure them for the full amount if would take to reassemble or refit to a particular gun, not just the cost of the actual item as Gun Smith services tend to add on more cost to a purchased item. (For example: A barrel cost roughly $125.00 but would cost an additional $225.00 in some cases to be fitted to your current frame and slide if lost by the shipper. In this case, you would insure the barrel for roughly $300.00 – $350.00).
What if I have an F.F.L. or I know somebody who does that will ship my item for me?
F.F.L. Holders
An F.F.L. holder can send other F.F.L. holders firearms through the USPS (United States Postal Service). The benefit of this is purely cost effectiveness. It is a FELONY to send your pistol via the USPS if you are not an F.F.L. holder. If shipping through an F.F.L., please make sure a copy of there F.F.L. has been sent via email, fax or with the actual package.
What should I include with my gun shipment?
Depending on the services and work being completed, the following should be included with your pistol:
- EGW Gun Smith services contract
- Full name, Order# or #’s , and Telephone number
- Any parts that we are not providing
- Magazines if we are test firing for reliablility
- We us White Box ammo for test firing purposes. Please provide your ammo in a separate shipment if you are not using White Box or reloads for reliability purposes.
